There they are...1500 copies of the book that you all helped us make a reality!  We're super excited they are here, and we'll be doing our best over the next week to make sure they get in the mail to all of you.  Just due to nature of the work week, we expect to get to packaging everything up over this coming weekend and then the books will go in the mail on Monday.  If you'd rather pick yours up in person, either in San Diego or the Bay Area, I'll have some copies with me this week.

Books arriving soon!
over 10 years ago – Mon, Nov 09, 2015 at 10:01:48 PM

I just spoke with our printer and confirmed that the books are on schedule for delivery to us sometime next week (Nov 16-20).  This means that most likely we will pack everything over the following weekend and I hope the books any any add-ons will ship out on Monday, November 23. I'll post an update that weekend with some pictures of the books and the packing process.

Shortly after we get the books out to you, we will be making the books available for general sale on Amazon.com.  Once they're available, we'd really appreciate all of you writing a positive review for the book on their web site.

Thanks again for all your support!

Hey everybody!

Just a quick update to let you all know that we just got the official proofs from our printer, reviewed them, and that everything is on track to have the books by mid-November. Also, most of the signature cocktail recipes are done and those will be going out those backers later this week.

Cheers!

Print Book Production Schedule Confirmed
over 10 years ago – Mon, Aug 17, 2015 at 11:28:21 PM

Hey Everybody-

I finally got the production schedule for the print book from the printers today.  It is:

  • Aug 25 or 26: Receive proof
  • Aug 28: Proof approval and ship proof back
  • Oct 13: Ship ocean freight from printer
  • Week of Nov 16: Delivery (to us...we'll then have to repackage and send to all of you)

This schedule is delayed a bit more than we were expecting, and of course it could be delayed further depending on any number of issues that could arise along the way.  We will just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best!

Once we have the books in hand, we will need to assemble and ship packages to roughly 57 of you.  Fortunately, we have time to do some prep work in advance so that hopefully the shipping process can be relatively streamlined and we can get the packages in the mail as quickly as possible.

Thanks again for all your support! We'll update you again next when we have pictures of the proofs to share.

Cheers!

E-Book Available and Books Headed to Printer
over 10 years ago – Sat, Aug 08, 2015 at 08:09:21 PM

Hey everyone!

The re-designed cover for What We Drink
The re-designed cover for What We Drink

Thanks very much for your patience, as it has taken us longer than we expected to get the book finished.  We're super excited to let you know about two things!

First, after some issues with our printer, we have finally gotten everything set up, our content uploaded and we expect the print book process to get started in the coming week.  Hopefully that means the 12 week clock from the start of printing to final delivery will start soon.  We'll have a final update once we have confirmed that printing is underway so you'll have a clearer date on when to expect your print book(s).

Second, we are super excited to announce that the electronic version of the book will be distributed through BackerKit starting tonight!  If you've filled out your survey, then you should receive an e-mail shortly with the links to the e-book.

You may be wondering why we used the plural "links" instead of the singular "link."  When we created the Kickstarter campaign, we said that we would distribute the book in EPUB3 Fixed Layout format (and we will still do that).  This format will work great on iPhones, iPads, and the various Android devices that you may have.  Since then however, we have learned a lot more about e-books, and we're worried that this format may not work for all of our contributors. For this reason, we are also distributing two other versions of the book to you. One is a .mobi file for use on the Kindle Fire series of readers, and the other is a regular PDF for situations in which neither EPUB or the Kindle format will work for you.  You're welcome to download one, two, or all three versions of the book depending on which you think will work best for you.

We do recommend that you use the EPUB version if you can, as this version has been augmented with links between relevant pages of the book. This will make it very easy with this version to refresh your memory of particular cocktail making techniques as you are making a cocktail. Just tap on the instruction and you should be taken to some additional information elsewhere in the book!

Even though we've tried to do a reasonable amount of testing, you still may find that the e-book versions don't work for you for some reason.  Please please please let us know if you run into problems so that we can try to fix them.  You can e-mail us at [email protected] or through the Kickstarter messaging system.  Let us know what reader you're using and the problem that you've encountered.  We'll try to get you an updated version with the problem corrected as soon as we can.

If you don't get an e-mail with instructions on how to download the e-books, and you believe you should have, first check to make sure that you filled out the survey on BackerKit.  This is required for us to be able to send the necessary information to you.  If you have, then reach out using either of the methods mentioned above and we'll make sure the problem gets fixed.

Finally, I haven't forgotten about those of you who paid for a signature cocktail recipe. Now that the book content is finished, I will start working on these recipes over the next few weeks. At the absolutely latest, expect to receive your recipe in time for your Labor Day parties.

Cheers!
